Treatment Postponed for Tomorrow. . Low Platelets

Looks just like my "chair."
The blood work today revealed that my platelets were at 53 (minimum is 75 for chemo).  This is  the lowest in recent memory.  Anyway, we spent some quality time (over an hour) with Dr. Johnson's PA, Gina, who was so very concerned about our treatment on Monday by the doctor from hell.  Today we discussed several areas regarding the stoma and the cancer.  We even discussed survival rates and she said I just might beat the odds. The next worse thing is metastasis into the liver and/or lungs, but the Flo-Fox (chemo) seems to be controlling the disease now within the abdominal cavity. . even though I am stage IV which generally means an aggressive march throughout the body.  I am pretty lucky.   But she told us of other people who have been lucky. . .a  guy she is treating is now in his 8th year beyond diagnosis. . excellent.  She then told us about a man who showed up in the ER with severe cramping to find out that his bowel had exploded into his abdominal cavity but they were able to save him  using Flo-Fox or a similar treatment.  Amazing.   Anyway, we will know more about me after the 4th chemo administration On May 4th, and then the CT scan either here or at Mission.

Aunt Michelle, one of Allie and Reese's favorite people sent them a care package today and it is like Christmas around here with the treats and toys.  Such a thoughtful thing to do and quite a hit.  We are looking at new foods for both of them and she helpfully provided lots of resources on that as well. . . such an amazing woman!  They are so happy she is their aunt.

Have you all discovered Pinterest?  Check it out -- loads of fun -- and addicting. . www.pinterest.com.

One of our local Publix grocery stores was "attacked" by a 76 year old driver who traveled into the store exit door and careened down the aisle for 75 feet before stopping.  She pinned an 83 year old man under the car and the meat dept. manager got a group of men within 2 minutes to physically lift the car off the man.  He did not die nor did any of the other 10 people she hit. It made the national news.  Next up for discussion -- should people over 75 be required to pass additional driver's tests?  I think Florida may be looking into that.

Hope you all are well. . drop me a line if you are so inclined!

Love,

Peggy
