Here is the update:
It is not an infection, for sure -- no fluid or puss
- She is saying might not be lymphoma now after palpating the tumor.
- Hypothesis is a neck peripheral sheath nerve carcinoma which I keep calling swannanoa but is actually schwannoma -- people get it too. Sounds like another designer cancer (like signet ring cell -- only the weirdest cancers for us, baby!!)
- No metastasizing to her lungs (she was afraid of that)-- saw radiographs
- No bone intrusion yet on jaw via other radiographs-
- No swallowing interference -- trachea tube went down without an issue -- great news because that means she can swallow.
- I think we might have caught this early -- I swear there was no swelling this past weekend and all of a sudden it just popped up and we saw it Wed night.
- Surgery may be back in the picture-- some discussion about getting margins (not 100% clear what that means) but according to the internet it means that most surgeons don't get all the margins out so there is a 72 percent recurrence rate after surgery.
- We will meet with the JAX oncologist as soon as the definitive type of cancer is know. Should know 100% on Monday or Tuesday.
