It is such a pain to drive all the way up to Mayo and, for the third time this year, we had to turn around and come back with no chemo-- since my platelets are too low. Nothing you can really do about it. So we'll have Chemo #10 on April 7th and then 2 more after that.
The ostomy support group Sunday was pretty good. We learned some things about products to use and techniques to try. There is also a colon cancer group here but not sure where or when they meet. The meeeting of the ostomy group will discuss reconnection in April -- surely don't want to miss that!
Am reading 3 books at once: Water for Elephants, The Murder of King Tut, and the New Testament (actually 3 books there for the class), so I have been doing a lot of reading. Anyone have any suggestions? I'll be finished Elephants and Tut before we get on the plane to Vegas and do not want to carry my religious books onto the plane! ;-) Let me know if you have any good books to recommend.
Vegas will be fun. Not only looking forward to the gambling, but we are seeing the Mob Museum, the Flamingo Preserve, the Body Exhibit, a Motown review, doing lunch at the Stratosphere and breakfast at the Conservatory at Bellagio, seeing the Neon Boneyard of old Vegas signs from the Stardust etc, doing Downtown and many other things. It will be wonderful. Can't wait. But we are pacing, pacing, pacing. Nothing can tire you out like Vegas and I am fully aware of that. We're staying at the Aria -- a BRAND NEW HOTEL IN CITY CENTER.
We have also booked a Southern Carbbean cruise for Dec 12-23. We'll be visiting Cozumel, Belize, Costa Rico, Panama, Columbia and the Cayman Islands!!!Yep, we are definitely cruise people. Too bad you cannot cruise into Vegas!
Ryan and Sarah will have their backyrd professionaly landscpaed for free. They won the opporutnity to be on the DIY network (show is called Extra Yardage). One of their friendss had it done and they are doing it as well. I'll send you pictures as it progresses. Very exciting.
The weather is actually hot here -- rode the trike today for only a few minutes since it was so very hot. I need to get in shape if I am going to the the 5 k in September.
OK. . hope you are well and write when you can.
Love,
Peggy
Hi again-That must be so frustrating that you have to drive all the way up there and then turn around. Hopefully it won’t happen again! I’m so glad that there are ostomy support groups, that’s a great idea and I’m sure it helps to share ideas about products (and just to vent, too—because I know it has its complications sometimes). I know you are really excited about the reconnect! Your books sound wonderful . . . sounds like you are staying really busy as always. And the trip will be GREAT! Ok, is the Body Exhibit what I think it is???? (I think I know . . . and it totally creeps me out!!!). Puh-lease don’t post any photos from that exhibit or I will never read your blog again, I can’t take it! :) But I’m sure it will be interesting and it sounds like you have lots of really FUN and exciting plans! And the cruise . . . wow, you are going to have to start a travel show on tv! Speaking of television, that is so neat about Ryan and Sarah! Tell me when it’s on and hopefully I can find it online (well, it will probably be awhile before it airs but keep me posted). Their dog will love it! Please send some of your hot weather up this way. We’re ready for it! Have a super trip! : ) Michelle P.S. I love the pic of Aunt Pauline with her stylish bike!
