I'm still here - NOT FROZEN-- YOU?

I feel so sorry for you all in colder climes.  It is 40 here with wind chill about 30 and today we saw yet another Floridian with the most outlandish outfit: Huge coat and big hat with flip flops and shorts~!  What?

Anyway, I am feeling much, much better.  Tomorrow we go to Mayo for my sonogram to see if they need to  remove fluid so it should not be too bad.  It seems like I work at Mayo.  When they tell you you have to be strong, I think they mean you have to schedule your life around these appointments.  How could anyone have a real job and do these things?

We have lots of people coming to visit. . . my cousin, my step-son, Ryan and his wife, Sarah, plus friends I haven't seen in ages and I am very, very glad ;-)    Hope you  guys are doing well and Please tell me what is transpiring in your busy lives.

  1. Hi Peggy,
You asked us to tell you what's happening in our lives, so here it goes! I took the day off from grooming today, and Barry and I made the trip to Greenville to stock up on holiday goodies from Trader Joe's. We love that store and wish they would open one in Asheville. So many yummy things you don't find in "regular" grocery stores ... and all at excellent prices! One of my favorite things that they sell is chocolate covered toffee rolled in pistachio nuts. Out of this world!! We put our 2 big dogs in doggie day care for the day, took our little dog Freddie with us, and headed south. Thankfully it was 10 degrees warmer in Greenville -- a balmy 30 vs. 19 in Asheville! Of course you can't have a road trip without lunch, so we ate at a lovely restaurant in the historic district of Greenville that served Persian food. It was named Pomegranate. Lovely decor and delicious food. Delicate spices, delicious marinades, citrus salad dressing that I loved, yogurt flavored with spices, diced cucumber, fresh mint, golden raisins, and walnuts. A pot of hot, sweet Persian tea was a welcome treat on a cold day. After lunch we wandered through 2 eclectic gift shops and admired all the lovely holiday gifts, handmade ornaments, etc. I didn't NEED anything, but ended up buying 2 pretty holiday candles. You can never have too many candles!! It was a fun day in spite of the frigid temperatures and the bone-chilling wind. Thankfully, our little dog Freddie was happy to ride in the car and just go out for 2 very quick pee breaks. I tried to take him for a walk in a park in Greenville but he would have nothing to do with it. Smart dog! Arrived back in Asheville by 5:00 -- just in time to pick up the big dogs from day care. Tomorrow it's back to work! 15 dogs to groom this week. Gotta look good for the holidays. Glad to hear you're feeling well and especially happy you've escaped to Florida and don't have to put up with this cold spell. Hopefully it will be over soon. Thanks for keeping us posted on what's happening with you and Patrick.
    Hugs,
    Sharon

  2. Well, John & I are in North Cape May, NJ til Monday when we head back to Winston Salem to be with the grandkids for Christmas. We have been in Jersey since Nov 16 at the house with Katie & Molly, celebrated Thanksgiving with them. Lots of cookies (snickerdoodles, butter, and chocolate chip) have been baked and the first two are all gone. It's been really nice being here with theses two marvelous women.

Will be working in Durham, Stanhope, NJ and Edenton, NC (me in Durham, John in Stanhope & both in Edenton). Right after Edenton we will head to Winston to be around for the birth of our grandson, Jayden. I can't wait to see the little fella. Abigail(his sister) is coming alont nicely. When we're not at home her mom has her call us everyday so we can talk to her, usually before she goes to school in the morning. Thank God for the school for special needs kids in Winston. It's made a HUGE difference in her life.

So glad to hear that you are feeling much better. May it continue to be this way forever for you. We do miss you guys and the "kids". Merry Christmas to all of you. May the new year bring you lots of joy and peace.

    Love to both of you,

    Rosie
