Friday

Started off pretty rough with pain similar to someone branding me with a poker on my stomach about 5 a.m.  We took the bag off and called the home health care nurse who set up an emergency visit with another, more senior nurse, at Mission Hospital for 10 a.m.  The theories now are that it is either an infection or an allergy to pectin and/or tape.  I have little pieces of the bag wafer (made of pectin) and tape on my arm now to see if they get red as time goes by.  I think it is an infection, but what do I know?  Meds for that will be ready on Monday.  So we're now on our 7th bag type.  Seems like one or two a week now. . it is so very painful and frustrating.  I have extremely sensitive skin -- something I never knew before.

The Advanced PATH report is still not back... due on Monday.  I did get some meds to cut down on the burping though, which will take a few days to cure. Dr. Lucas took me back up to 25 mg of Fentenyl (like morphine) and gave me some more Valium, thank Gawd!

The port installation will happen next week.  Stay tuned!

Some day this will be ancient history but right now I feel like I am in a battle over my skin. The cancer is the least of my worries although the MRI did reveal some ascites forming in my stomach which is due to fluid formation from the cancer doing its work.
